Report: By end of 2017 there will be more than 30 million voice assistants in US homes

I’ve been trying to figure out a viable vehicle for selling audio ads over the internet. I think I’ve found it. Internet connected home devices like Google Home, Amazon’s Echo, etc. A report from CIRP predicts by the end of 2017, 30 million homes will have internet connected devices in the home with voice assistance. So, advertising on the internet is done through search engine ads, social media ads, banner ads, and video ads. Soon, there will be audio ads, similar to radio commercials, that will be DIRT cheap.

Reached A Very Interesting Tipping Point In SEO

Reached A Very Interesting Tipping Point In SEO

Reached a very interesting tipping point in SEO. Client has been ranking #1 since 2010 for “parking lot lighting los angeles”, mostly due to having the domain parkinglotlightinglosangeles.com. That’s 7 years of #1 dominance. But now their main flagship website efficientlightingandelectric.com out ranks it. PLUS, the website shows up TWICE. And their flagship website outranks parkinglotlosangeles.com because of all of the short blogs we’ve been doing to produce content. And notice how both blogs don’t feature titles of “parking lot los angeles”. This could prove my theory that lots of content, focusing on specific, “long tail” keywords can eventually help a website rank for popular, highly competitive keywords. All without link building. Could it be that Google wants to reward websites that have lots of “answers” to user’s queries? I think the answer is yes. And I think this is where SEO is heading and has been heading. Content for specific keywords. Currently, link building does matter, but I predict that in a few years it’ll be obsolete. Internet traffic continues to trend mobile. Close to 60% mobile according to comscore. And people don’t link to websites on cell phones. They push the share button on their apps (which is easy to game the system). Therefore I think the main areas to focus on is having as many “answers” or content for specific keywords as possible and also having the right user engagement on the website. For example, if Google sees that there’s a high percentage of people that go on a parking lot lighting website and click the call button or contact page button, that’s affirmation that the user liked the content and therefore Google should rank it better. User engagement like that. Every different type of website will have different context of what positive user engagement is, but I think Google will eventually be able to figure it out.

Siloing Your Site

In my opinion, “siloing” or targeting long tail keywords is the last big oppurtunity in SEO. Yet most people that do SEO are not doing it. Probably because it’s time consuming and hard work.

Hey, Siri, Do My Homework!

Hey, Siri, Do My Homework!

In 2017, homework is as easy as asking your digital voice assistant for the answers haha. i think siri, ok google, cortana, alexa, etc. will make homework obsolete. if you really want to challenge students to figure out how to do the work on their own, its going to have to be in the classrooms with their cell phones being banned.

Survey Finds US Teens Upped Daily Facebook Usage in 2016

Survey Finds US Teens Upped Daily Facebook Usage in 2016

Interesting teen social media stats. 2/3 of teens say they go on Facebook daily. But only 13% of teens say Facebook is their favorite social media platform. From a business standpoint, I’d say that eventually, Facebook will die out just like MySpace and Friendster. However, if Facebook can use the money they have to keep buying the hottest new social media sites like Instagram and Pinterest, that’s probably how they survive in the long haul.

Three well-meaning paid search optimizations that might kill performance

Three well-meaning paid search optimizations that might kill performance

Yup. RLSA (remarketing lists for search ads) is not what a lot of people make it out to be. It’s basically a more expensive way of doing remarketing and people in the industry are starting to catch on. It’s not that RLSA is bad or overrated. It’s just not for small businesses. It’s for big companies that have big brands and tons of traffic and they don’t care if they overpay for acquisition of customers through remarketing.

Google Is Changing How Call Extensions Show in 2 Weeks – Here’s What You Need to Know

Google claims they’re doing this so that call data is consistent across all channels. But I’m suspicious and think that what Google really wants to do is get rid of call tracking if they can. Because call tracking can possibly show that customers paying for clicks are not getting customers and making money. Which is bad for Google.
