Google says most websites rank without building a single back link. (GASP!!!). Well yeah, this is possible because a majority of all searches are low competition, longtail, specific keywords and they don’t need backlinks to rank. I think the industry as a whole is behind on realizing the future is in the longtail.

Internet marketing agencies won’t be automated out of existence. Biggest reason is because AI isn’t and won’t ever be capable to mastering the strategy and creative part of what we do. AI will actually help us do our job better, but won’t replace.

Phone calls to businesses are increasing. Which makes sense due to a majority of people accessing the internet with their phone, rather than a computer. So with the phone in their hand already, and most websites having a call button that you push and then the # automatically pops up in the dial pad and behold! More calls.

It’s time for the 2018 internet marketing trend articles! I agree with all points in this one and it can be summed up very simply to focus on 2 things: the more specific content your website has, the better. And you need a fast loading, mobile responsive website. More content. Faster website. Focus on doing those 2 things better and you’ll be ahead of the curve going into next year.

What’s the real reason Yelp doesn’t want businesses to ask for reviews? Because Yelp needs some businesses to have bad reviews for it’s website to have value. If every business listing on Yelp had all 5 star reviews, the website would have no value. There’d be no differentiater. So Yelp needs to insure some businesses are hurt and have bad reviews so they can make money. Another reason why so many businesses dislike Yelp.
