I’ve been saying this for years now, but finally read an article of someone else catching on that Yelp’s ads don’t produce the same calls that their free listings do. And it’s funny how Yelp makes it really hard to track the results of the ads. Once more business owners become aware of this, their sales will drop dramatically and as a business, they could be in trouble. Their ads don’t work. And the only reason their free listings get calls is because they sometimes pop up on Google because Google would rather have a review website like Yelp popping up than a business because Google wants businesses to have to pay for advertising to be on Google.

People that do YouTube videos get paid. Now it’s the podcasts’ turn. And businesses would be smart to get on board advertising there. Especially in the first couple years when its DIRT cheap. In my latest video I go into detail on the next big form of internet marketing.

That because there’s so many fake sites with new ones popping up everyday, the best thing to do is cherry pick a custom placement list with legit websites. Takes more work. But otherwise, you risk paying money for robots looking and clicking on your banner ads.

Let us not forget the big reason search engines are better than banner ads: accidental clicks. Think about how many times in the past year you’ve clicked on a banner ad on purporse. And then think how many times you’ve accidentally clicked on one. Especially on your cell phone. Until this issue is figured out, all the AI, data, and targeting isn’t going to matter.
