This is THE #1, HUGE, GOLDEN opportunity in internet marketing: making video content for frequently asked questions, popping up in top 3 in all of Youtube, to build trust and brand. Mark my words, in the next 3-5 years, consumers will expect businesses and organizations to have video content the same way they expect you to have a website. And even today, people search on Youtube instead of Google because they want video for their search instead of a website. Look at this screenshot. I pop up #1 for “Why am I not on the 1st page of Google anymore”. It’s a term a lot of businesses wonder about. And look how it tricks people into thinking I’m a genius haha. Grab that open land on Youtube now. Gobble it up before everybody else does in the next few years. If long tail, specific searches are the future, it makes sense that if there is a video that addresses their search, a consumer could prefer that over a website.
Read MoreI disagree on the idea that voice search is going to do away with traditional search. Especially in industries I work with. For a lot of businesses that are advertising on search to get more customers, the vast majority of customers want visuals before calling said businesses. And visuals are something voice search doesn’t offer. If you’re dropping money on something like fixing your A/C, remodeling your kitchen, booking a limo to prom, you’re going to want to see pictures. So until voice search magically has visuals pop up out of thin air, traditional search will be sticking around.

The very, very underrated part of internet marketing. Valuable and unique deal offers to customers. I don’t know why so many businesses don’t put effort into coming up with deals for their internet ads. If you go into a mall, every store will have a sign in their window with some sort of deal. It should be the same way for your banner ads, websites, etc.

Really good SEO article. And yes, I’m starting to see this. Long tail keyword content getting a website ranked for competitive short tail keywords. I am seeing a correlation.

Blockchain. It’s going to be a really big deal. But I’m skeptical that it’s a threat to Google being the middle man for making money on banner ads. 2 main values Google brings to the the table is the bundle of websites in their network. Like Walmart, Google leverages their volume to drive down the cost of ads for advertisers. And the 2nd main value is that Google makes it easy for website owners for ads to be sold and to get paid either by click or thousand views. Sure, it’s possible website owners could sell ads on their own using Blockchain, but it would take a lot more work.

Definitely the big concern of IoT (internet connected devices): computers and servers routinely get hacked. So what’s stopping hackers from hacking connected devices like cars, security systems, etc. It’s a problem and needs to be addressed before IoT becomes more accepted.

I think Google might be wanting to create an audio (and possibly video), version of Twitter. Which means the main goal is creating a new place to sell online ads haha.

The job market is really going to be changing in the next few years as companies are trying to automate as many tasks as possible. Really nice of Google to give money to non profits to try and help people pick of digital skills that are going to be necessary.

I have no clue why investors give Yext money. First they trick customers into thinking their product has value towards improving SEO. Now they go from, we’re going to make sure all your data is accurate in all this website directories to, oh, we’re going to make our own website directory lol. Not smart. Almost all traffic to these website directories come from search engines. And you better believe that if there is any money to be made in these website directories, that Google is going to do it themselves and devour the market. They control the website traffic to these sites, so if they want to steer it to themselves, they can. I can’t see Yext staying in business long term because they live off of perception, not actual value.

History has shown so far it’s almost impossible for social media websites to stay on top forever. So far, Facebook has done it because they buy out their competitors like Instagram and Pinterest. Snapchat seems to be the next threat they might be looking to buy as recent study shows teens prefer Snapchat 47% to Facebook 9%.
