Is the featured snippet bubble bursting?

Another reason I don’t recommend investing heavily in SEO. Invest a little bit, but not a ton because Google can flip everything upside down whenever they want.

Think calls are dying? The data says they’re not

Phone calls to businesses are increasing. Which makes sense due to a majority of people accessing the internet with their phone, rather than a computer. So with the phone in their hand already, and most websites having a call button that you push and then the # automatically pops up in the dial pad and behold! More calls.

It’s time for the 2018 internet marketing trend articles! I agree with all points in this one and it can be summed up very simply to focus on 2 things: the more specific content your website has, the better. And you need a fast loading, mobile responsive website. More content. Faster website. Focus on doing those 2 things better and you’ll be ahead of the curve going into next year.

Online reputation is a really fragile thing that can be destroyed by one stupid mistake. Also another example where the cover up is almost always worse than the crime.

CEO who forged court order to get Google to remove defamation faces prison

Outsourcing web work is cheap, but there’s real danger and risk in doing it. Main risk is that the laws of the USA don’t apply to people in other countries. Really crazy story.

Yelp increasingly cracking down on ‘review solicitation’ across the internet

Yelp increasingly cracking down on ‘review solicitation’ across the internet

What’s the real reason Yelp doesn’t want businesses to ask for reviews? Because Yelp needs some businesses to have bad reviews for it’s website to have value. If every business listing on Yelp had all 5 star reviews, the website would have no value. There’d be no differentiater. So Yelp needs to insure some businesses are hurt and have bad reviews so they can make money. Another reason why so many businesses dislike Yelp.

This is THE #1, HUGE, GOLDEN opportunity in internet marketing

This is THE #1, HUGE, GOLDEN opportunity in internet marketing: making video content for frequently asked questions, popping up in top 3 in all of Youtube, to build trust and brand. Mark my words, in the next 3-5 years, consumers will expect businesses and organizations to have video content the same way they expect you to have a website. And even today, people search on Youtube instead of Google because they want video for their search instead of a website. Look at this screenshot. I pop up #1 for “Why am I not on the 1st page of Google anymore”. It’s a term a lot of businesses wonder about. And look how it tricks people into thinking I’m a genius haha. Grab that open land on Youtube now. Gobble it up before everybody else does in the next few years. If long tail, specific searches are the future, it makes sense that if there is a video that addresses their search, a consumer could prefer that over a website.

The Next Big Thing: Digital Personal Assistants

The Next Big Thing: Digital Personal Assistants

I disagree on the idea that voice search is going to do away with traditional search. Especially in industries I work with. For a lot of businesses that are advertising on search to get more customers, the vast majority of customers want visuals before calling said businesses. And visuals are something voice search doesn’t offer. If you’re dropping money on something like fixing your A/C, remodeling your kitchen, booking a limo to prom, you’re going to want to see pictures. So until voice search magically has visuals pop up out of thin air, traditional search will be sticking around.

Offers they can’t refuse: Strategies to stand out on Black Friday

The very, very underrated part of internet marketing. Valuable and unique deal offers to customers. I don’t know why so many businesses don’t put effort into coming up with deals for their internet ads. If you go into a mall, every store will have a sign in their window with some sort of deal. It should be the same way for your banner ads, websites, etc.
